A Perfect Lunch
While visiting the Lacey Diner last week in Forked River, New Jersey, I had what I consider to be a perfect lunch. I had a delicious bowl of Italian Wedding Soup and half of a Grilled Cheese Sandwich. First off, I didn't think you could do a half of a Grilled Cheese Sandwich! They did it with no questions asked.
That is the one thing about this diner. They aim to please their customers. Many times I have seen someone order something that used to be on the menu as a special and they recreated the dish for them. CJ's, also in Forked River, has done this also. CJ's has a waitress who isn't afraid to make an eggcream for me. If you are not sure what that is, ask anyone from Brooklyn or The Bronx. I would love to get these two diners to battle it out at Bounty Of The Bay, a food tasting competition held annually at the Lacey United Methodist Church.
