During my last holiday in Cyprus I spent a lot of time simply walking around the hotel area, especially in the mornings and late afternoons when the heat was a bit more bearable and the light was soft. I was looking for things that could be perfect for a small photography session.

That’s exactly how I came across these beautiful PETUNIA HYBRIDA flowers. They were growing on the hotel grounds where I was staying, planted as part of the garden decoration. The red and white striped pattern immediately caught my attention, so naturally I stopped for a moment and took a few close-up shots.

PETUNIA HYBRIDA is one of the most popular ornamental flowers in gardens all over the world. It is a cultivated hybrid, created from different South American petunia species. These plants are especially valued because they bloom for a long time, produce large colorful flowers and are relatively easy to grow.

Petunias are often used in flower beds, pots, balconies and public spaces because they tolerate heat well and can handle strong sunlight,which makes them a perfect choice for places like Cyprus. Their bright colors also attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
