Splinterlands continue to produce new cards as part of their new goal this year. Riftwatcher is the new card pack released last year and the cards it contains are pretty strong and reliable in every battle. One of the unfamiliar cards that I saw this week is the LICHEN BEAST. This monster a Common Earth Unit and a very interesting beast in Splinterlands. To know more about this monster, continue to read this content is review further this monster.

THE LORE

The lichen beast is a guardian of nature that prowls ancient forests and fey crossings, protecting the borders between realms, as well as the surrounding flora and fauna. It does not require food, drink, or rest. Instead, it feeds on sunlight and can heal itself by drawing on the elemental mana of earth found in trees and lichen. These bear-like creatures can live for hundreds of years. Their loyalty to the forests and its denizens makes them highly sought-after companions for rangers and scouts.

A great roar echoed through the forest. Heavy, pawed feet bounded across the ground. The trees had whispered a warning: a poacher had entered the sacred grove. Now, the lichen beast gave chase to its prey.

It burst from the undergrowth and charged the poacher. The man spun to face it and notched an arrow in his bow, drew it back, and let it fly in one swift motion. It struck the beast’s shoulder, and the creature stumbled. The poacher fired twice more in rapid succession, and the lichen beast’s legs gave out. It went down in a heap. Grinning, the man shouldered his bow and drew a hunting knife as he strode toward the fallen beast.

Its body trembled. The lichen upon it grew thicker. Twigs and branches mended together, forcing the arrows from its hide. The bolts fell to the ground. The beast rose. The man backpedaled. Too late.

The lichen beast pounced on the poacher, pinning him to the ground. He screamed as its jaws stretched wide and tore into his face, silencing him for good.

CARD ANALYSIS

LICHEN BEAST is a Common Earth Monster with Enrage ability. Monster with this kind of ability have increased melee and speed when damaged. The increase it can get is up to 1.5 times (rounded up) its current melee and speed. But there are times that attacks are not affected by Enrage ability, like the magic and range attacks. With that kind of ability, it can surely win and slay a battle against another monster. In terms of the stats of this monster, it has 2 melee attacks, 1 speed, and 7 lives. A two melee attack cannot really make so much damage during the battle. If your enemy has Shield ability, then your winning chance could be at risk. In terms of speed, this monster is not also reliable on that. It only have 1 speed, which means it cannot avoid any attacks. Even though it has those low points, still, this monster can surely survive lots of attacks due to its life. This monster has 7 lives which means it can endure many attacks.

• WHERE TO POSITION THIS MONSTER?

Due to its ability, it is highly suggested to place this monster on tank position. Letting this monster attacked by other monster would be great and in order for it to be attack easily, the first position is the best option.

SUGGESTED TRICKS FOR THIS MONSTER

• Find a summoner or monster that can increase the speed of this monsters. Speed is essential in the game. It determines who attacks first and it gives monster higher chance of evading.
• Know the right position of the monster. Most of the time, the key on winning a battle is on right positioning of the monster.
• Determine the perfect monster that can strengthen this card. Playing with the team can help the monster achieve its full potential. There are monsters that only becomes stronger when they are partnered with other cards.
