ENGLISH CONTENT
Hello to everyone in this community and fellow sewing enthusiasts! My sister's birthday is coming up, and one of the things I wanted to get her was a book cover. Lately, she's developed a real passion for reading and has even become quite fond of some stories, acquiring the physical copies. When one of her books got wet in her bag, I suggested she do the same as me: always keep it inside a bag. But wasn't there a more aesthetically pleasing option? Well, yes, and today I'm going to show it to you.
To make the cover, you'll need solid-colored fabric or fabric with your desired print (in this case, I used Harry Potter-themed fabric, since my sister loves that series); wadding or stuffing for protection against bumps; and waterproof fabric to protect it from moisture. The measurements depend on the size of the book you want to protect. In this case, I used 27 cm by 36 cm, which works for books up to 3 cm thick.
The first thing I did was to pad the printed fabric, sewing the padding all around the edge with a straight stitch, also taking the opportunity to add a label with my brand.

Next, I folded the piece and sewed it open at the top, which is where the book would go. I also sewed in the drawstring to close the cover. It can be closed with a button, a zipper, Velcro, or even elastic. I wanted to try this technique, so I hope to show you the others another time.

Next, I sewed the cover to the raincoat, which would act as a lining. I closed the piece except for the top part, and from there, I sewed the quilted cover, leaving a small opening to turn the piece right side out.

To close the opening where I turned the piece inside out, I sewed a straight stitch. This cover closes with a button, so the next step was to sew the button on so that the cord that had been sewn on previously would fit through it.

And just like that, the book cover was finished! ✨ As you can see, it's a simple and cute project, perfect for book lovers, although you can also use it to store other things. I liked it so much that I made a couple to sell. I hope to make more with different prints and designs to offer in my online shop, and of course, I even want to make one for myself! 📚
