Una introducción necesaria

Siempre he pensado que no hay nada más parecido a la vida que una película, porque en ella se reflejan tus contradicciones, añoranzas, conflictos, miedos, amores, esperanzas, derrotas y victorias y, si te pones a pensar, eso es la vida.

Es por ello que me gustan tanto las películas porque pueden dejarme enseñanzas o claves para una situación particular de mi vida.

A lo largo de mi vida, las películas han formado parte de mi arsenal docente y han sido utilizadas como medios de enseñanzas para que mis estudiantes beban de sus sabidurías y puedan arribar a conclusiones por ellos mismos.

Es por ello, que, entre otras cosas, he decidido participar en esta iniciativa y lo haré con una película que es de lo mejor que he visto en mi vida y, además, está basada en hechos reales.

Espero que les guste y les invito a que sigan conmigo hasta el final.

Generalidades de la película

De todas las películas que he visto en mi vida “En busca de la felicidad” es la que más me ha aportado a nivel personal y ha sido esencial en mi crecimiento personal y, si no la han visto le sugiero que lo haga porque es un canto al optimismo, perseverancia y lucha por alcanzar el bienestar de tus seres queridos.

Pero, antes de hablar de su significado para mí, les diré brevemente de qué trata esta película.

Es un filme protagonizado de manera excelente por el actor norteamericano Will Smith y, cada vez que la veo, no puedo dejar de llorar, sí, llorar porque eso de que los hombres no lloran es un mito.

La película nos cuenta la historia de Chris Gardner, un vendedor de dispositivos médicos que enfrenta muchas dificultades en su vida que ponen en riesgo su salud mental y emocional porque es abandonado por su mujer, pierde su hogar, tiene serios problemas financieros y, además, tiene que cuidar a su hijo.

A pesar de todo lo anterior, Chris lucha por salir adelante. En medio de todo esto, va dejando diálogos y frases que me han servido para toda la vida y que constituyen la esencia de mi publicación.

Enseñanzas de la película a través de cuatro frases

“Nunca permitas que alguien te diga que no puedes hacer algo. Ni siquiera si quien lo dice soy yo. Si tienes un sueño, debes protegerlo. A veces las personas no pueden hacer las cosas por sí mismas y por eso te dicen que no puedes. Si quieres algo, ve y consíguelo. ¡Punto!”

Esto es algo que parece escrito por mi madre y que siempre le he transmitido a mis sobrinos, mis hijastros y a los estudiantes porque forma parte de la personalidad que cada quien debe tener.

No podemos pensar que es imposible alcanzar algo porque sea difícil o porque otro no pueda lograrlo, pues, la clave está en luchar, perseverar, superar los obstáculos, no rendirnos ante los primeros fracasos y seguir enfocados en nuestros objetivos.

Siempre les he dicho que, muchas veces, subestimamos la fortaleza de nuestras personalidades y nos dejamos vencer por las pequeñas derrotas.

Al final, el mensaje esencial de esta frase y de la película es que si crees que puedes lograr algo y tienes las potencialidades para alcanzar esa meta, no debes detenerte por duro que sean los obstáculos, porque si luchas con fuerza y perseveras, alcanzarás la victoria.

"¿Esta parte de mi vida? ¿Esta que ves aquí? A eso le llamo felicidad"

Algo que siempre he compartido con mis seres queridos, amistades y familiares es que muchas veces buscamos la felicidad en el cumplimiento de un sueño, sin saber que la felicidad no es el final del camino, sino el camino, que todo el proceso es la felicidad porque no se trata de que todo sea perfecto, se trata de que lo que hacemos nos alimente y llene.

Yo no tengo riquezas materiales, posesiones ni gran suma de dinero. Sin embargo, soy una persona feliz. Tengo un hogar maravilloso, personas a las que quiero y que me aman, tengo tesoros valiosos en mi esposa, familia, amistades. Pero, por encima de todo, tengo la vida, el tesoro más preciado para ser feliz.

“El mundo entero es tu ostra. Así que depende de ti encontrar tus perlas escondidas".

Muchas veces nos dejamos llevar por los problemas del mundo y pensamos que no hay nada por lo que luchar si, en total, todo lo que vemos es malo. Ese es un pensamiento negativo. Tenemos que saber que en el mundo hay cosas hermosas esperando por nosotros, solo tenemos que ir a buscarlas.

Tenemos que saber, además, que todos tenemos una semilla escondida esperando porque germine, pero eso, nos toca a nosotros hacerlo y podremos descubrir las maravillas del mundo y ser protagonistas de nuestras propias películas.

“No soy todo lo que me ha pasado. Soy todo lo que he decidido ser".

Esta es otra de las enseñanzas de la película aplicadas a nuestra vida cotidiana porque no podemos escudarnos en las cosas malas que nos han sucedido ni intentar decir que nuestro pasado es el reflejo de nuestro presente. Eso sucede si nosotros queremos que pase. Lo importante es tomar lo positivo de nuestro pasado y transformar lo negativo en cosas valiosas y construir nuestro mundo de la mejor manera posible.

That is why, among other things, I have decided to participate in this initiative and I will do so with a film that is one of the best I have seen in my life and, furthermore, is based on real events.

Generalities of the film

Of all the movies I have seen in my life, “The Pursuit of Happyness” is the one that has contributed the most to me on a personal level and has been essential in my personal growth and, if you have not seen it, I suggest you do so because it is a hymn to optimism, perseverance and the fight to achieve the well-being of your loved ones.

But, before talking about its meaning to me, I will briefly tell you what this film is about.

It is a film excellently starring the American actor Will Smith and, every time I see it, I can't stop crying, yes, crying because the thing about men not crying is a myth.

The film tells the story of Chris Gardner, a medical device salesman who faces many difficulties in his life that put his mental and emotional health at risk because he is abandoned by his wife, loses his home, has serious financial problems and, in addition, has to take care of his son.

Despite all of the above, Chris struggles to move forward. In the midst of all this, he leaves dialogues and phrases that have served me throughout my life and that constitute the essence of my publication.

Lessons from the film through four sentences

“Never let someone tell you that you can't do something. Not even if it's me who says it. If you have a dream, you must protect it. Sometimes people can't do things by themselves and that's why they tell you that you can't. If you want something, go and get it. Spot!"

This is something that seems to have been written by my mother and that I have always transmitted to my nephews, my stepchildren and the students because it is part of the personality that each person should have.

We cannot think that it is impossible to achieve something because it is difficult or because someone else cannot achieve it, because the key is to fight, persevere, overcome obstacles, not give up at the first failures and remain focused on our objectives.

I have always told you that, many times, we underestimate the strength of our personalities and allow ourselves to be defeated by small defeats.

In the end, the essential message of this phrase and of the film is that if you believe that you can achieve something and you have the potential to achieve that goal, you should not stop no matter how hard the obstacles are, because if you fight hard and persevere, you will achieve victory.

Something that I have always shared with my loved ones, friends and family is that many times we seek happiness in the fulfillment of a dream, without knowing that happiness is not the end of the road, but the path, that the entire process is happiness because it is not about everything being perfect, it is about what we do nourishes and fills us.

I do not have material wealth, possessions or a large sum of money. However, I am a happy person. I have a wonderful home, people I love and who love me, I have valuable treasures in my wife, family, and friends. But, above all, I have life, the most precious treasure to be happy.

“The whole world is your oyster. So it's up to you to find your hidden pearls".

Many times we get carried away by the problems of the world and think that there is nothing to fight for if, in total, everything we see is bad. That is a negative thought. We have to know that there are beautiful things in the world waiting for us, we just have to go look for them.

We also have to know that we all have a hidden seed waiting for it to germinate, but it is up to us to do it and we will be able to discover the wonders of the world and be the protagonists of our own films.

“I am not everything that has happened to me. "I am everything I have decided to be."

This is another of the film's teachings applied to our daily lives because we cannot hide behind the bad things that have happened to us or try to say that our past is a reflection of our present. That happens if we want it to happen. The important thing is to take the positive from our past and transform the negative into valuable things and build our world in the best way possible.
