Happy friday friends of Shadow Hunters! I hope you are all well. Today we are in the Holy Days of Passion in Venezuela. Here, as in the rest of Latin America, Christian faith is lived intensely, and these are days when a large part of the population takes the opportunity to go to churches and pray, while others take advantage of the time to go on vacation almost from the beginning of this week. In my case, I will have a hybrid routine: on the one hand, I will go to churches to pray, but I will also enjoy the weekend with friends from work and neighbors. Precisely because it is a holiday, there is usually a ban on the sale of alcohol starting on Saturday, so I took advantage of Thursday to buy some beers and enjoy them with my friends at home.

This time I went to the north of Caracas, very close to the foothills of our majestic Ávila Mountain. Here, commercial activity is constantly bustling, regardless of the time of day. I left work quite late, so I arrived in these parts of Caracas at dusk, and there's a very special atmosphere. The end of the workday and the certainty of spending time with friends and colleagues—that's the feeling you breathe in the city these days. But the most striking thing about this scene was how the sunset fell over the city, how as the sun went down the long shadows of the buildings stretched across the streets and avenues. My phone battery was running low, so I took advantage of the moment to capture these urban shadows for the SMASH contest in its round #419.

In the next photo, you can see another of these enormous trees, half illuminated and the other half shrouded in the shadow of the building, which seems to segment it in perfect symmetry. Finally, I arrived at my destination, a liquor store that was very well stocked. I bought a couple of six-packs of Corona and Heineken to enjoy with my friends, but before leaving, I took one last shot in the shade of a 13-story building where you can see how the shadow begins to creep across the building. It would have been great to capture the process of how the shadow engulfs the illuminated part and ends up covering not only the building but that part of the street in shadow as well.

I hope you enjoyed my contribution to this SMASH contest. You can't imagine how much I enjoyed doing this shadow hunt. Sunset is one of the most enjoyable times of day for me, when my imagination seems to break free from the work routine and immerses itself in this wonderful hobby of hunting shadow perspectives. Feliz vieners amigos de Shadow Hunters! Espero que se encuentren bien, hoy estamos en los santos días de la pasión de Cristo en Venezuela. Aquí como en el resto de Latinoamérica se vive intensamente la fé cristiana y estos son días en los que una buena parte de la población aprovecha para ir a los templos y orar, mientras que otra aprovecha para ir de vacaciones casi desde el comienzo de esta semana y en mi caso tendré una rutina híbrida, por una parte iré a los templos a orar pero tambien disfrutaré del fin de semana con amigos del trabajo y vecinos en el trabajo. Justamente por ser días de asueto suele haber una prohibición de vender licor desde el sábado, así que aproveché el jueves para comprar algunas cervezas y poder disfrutar con mis amigos en casa.

Esta vez fui al norte de la ciudad de Caracas, muy cerca de las faldas de nuestro solemne Cerro Ávila, aquí la actividad comercial bulle constantemente sin importar la hora del día, yo salí del trabajo bastante tarde asi que llegué a estos espacios de Caracas en el ocaso del día y se siente un aire muy especial, el final de la jornada y la certeza de que vas a pasar el rato con amigos y colegas, ese es el aire que se respira estos días en la ciudad. Pero lo más llamativo de esta escena era como caía el atardecer sobre la ciudad, como mientras se ponía el sol se extendía en las calles y avenidas las largas sombras de los edificios, ya tenía poca batería en el teléfono así que aproveché el momento para capturar estas sombras urbanas para el concurso SMASH en su round #419.

La primera foto, la que puse en la portada es mi favorita, porque aquí se combinan las sombras de 2 elementos, por un lado la imponente sombra de los edificios detrás de mi posición, con sus sombras que generan esas formas brutalistas, y al lado de esa sombra, puedes apreciar la sombra del gran árbol que parece fusionarse con la del edificio, una especie de simbiosis entre el urbanismo y la naturaleza. Ya he hablado en otras ocasiones de esa peculiaridad de mi ciudad, esa lucha entre el urbanismo y la vegetación de mi ciudad por los espacios.

En la siguiente foto puedes ver otro de estos enormes arboles, la mitad iluminado y la otra cubierta en la sombra del edificio que parece segmentarlo en perfecta simetría. Al final llegué a mi destino, una licorería que estaba muy bien surtida, compre un par de six packs de Corona y Heineken para disfrutarlas con mis amigos, pero antes de irme le tome una última todo a la sobra a un edificio de 13 pisos donde se puede ver como la sombra comienza a reptar por el edificio, habría sido genial capturar el proceso de como la sombra va engullendo la parte iluminada y termina por cubrir en la sombras no solo el edificio, sino esa parte de la calle también.

Espero que les haya gustado mi aporte para este concurso SMASH, no se imaginan lo que disfrute hacer esta cacería de sombras, es el atardecer los momentos más disfrutables del día para mi y donde mi imaginación parece liberarse de la rutina del trabajo y se sumerge en en este maravilloso hobie de cazar perspectivas de sombras.
