Simple meals are made special too when I eat them with you!

While everyone is preoccupied with preparing lavish holiday meals and elaborate menus, I chose to create a meaningful and humble dish. I believe you don’t have to spend a lot of money to enjoy the holidays. What truly matters is having family together. Even the simplest meals can make the season feel more meaningful and special. Sharing good food and creating memories with loved ones is what makes the holidays truly memorable.

Chili Cheese Sticks

With a tight budget in mind, I decided to try my hand at making chili cheese sticks, even though I don’t consider myself a great cook. This dish seemed like a fun and simple way to experiment in the kitchen while enjoying a delicious snack. With just a few simple ingredients and steps, I was excited to see how it would turn out.

Lumpia Wrapper

I bought this pack of lumpia wrappers from the market for just 25 pesos. It contains 100 sheets, which is a great deal.

The Cheese
I believe the cheese is the most expensive ingredient I bought for my menu, costing 130 pesos. However, I think it’s worth the price because it significantly enhances the flavor of the chili cheese sticks.

The Green Chilis
Green chilis are an essential ingredient in chili cheese sticks. They bring a distinct flavor and a touch of heat that perfectly complements the creamy cheese. I am glad that they are readily available in the backyard.

I cut the green chilis lengthwise but chose not to remove the seeds. I believe the seeds add extra texture to the chili cheese sticks, giving them a delightful crunch. Plus, they contribute to the overall flavor.

Cooking Time
I believe this is the most challenging part of the entire process. I needed to ensure there was enough oil for deep frying the chili cheese sticks and that the oil was hot enough. Timing is crucial here. I had to be quick when taking the sticks out of the frying pan to prevent them from overcooking. Getting this step right is essential for achieving that perfect crispy texture.
