Weight gain and loss
***
Weight gain or weight loss amounts to two things. Calories in and calories out. How much you eat and how much you burn. If you happen to exceed your maintaince calories without burning it that’s how fat loss accumulates. That’s basically what makes people who are overweight have been doing since. So now we have to flip that dynamic. And that’s by 1. reasonable deficit, 2. implementing exercises and 3. eating quality food. Three steps. One goal. Straight forward application. Simple logic. High intensity cardio like long jogs only contributes to weight loss depending on frequently you do it. And for such an activity to have a lasting weight loss benefit it must be done exhaustively at degrees that might not be realistically feasible. Even then, it’s still negligible. In order to keep ourselves active, it would be advisable to jog every now and then, walk a lot more or take up the habit of endurance exercises or sports like rugby, basketball or skipping and gradually progress. But overall, high intensity cardio won’t really get you anywhere except if your chasing endurance, not fat loss.
Food cooked in heavy oils like yamarita, chips, fried foods, pastries, smoothies, bread, carbonated drinks and beverages, milo, sugar, snacks etc are deemed unhealthy and most especially have a negative impact on those trying to lose weight. Even for those who aren’t obese, In the long term (10-20 years or more) foods like this can accumulate and have drastic detrimental consequences to our health and even mental wellbeing.
What people need to understand is that you need to rationalise and understand what it is that you’re doing. The more you understand why you’re doing it, the more you’d feel like doing it. Weight loss isn’t just simply exhaustive efforts and constant high intensity exercises. It’s a monitored discipline that emphasises consistency and at times, simplicity. Do what’s realistic. Something that you know that works and sustain for the long term. Stay away from home workout apps. Or social media exercise propaganda. If there something you need to understand better, you can always find learned influencers or fitness enthusiasts online to explain. Fitness is an experiment and an experience. One exercise may not be favoured by all. But what matters is that your active and control what you eat.
